Despite the best efforts from the greens staff the poor weather won the day and there was no option but to cancel the event. Normal policy is to suspend the event for an hour to allow the situation to be reviewed but it was apparent that this would have had made little difference so the decision to cancel was made immediately.
It is frustrating for all involved, as members always look forward to inviting a friend along for a fun day. The staff also put in a lot of effort in preparation for the event.
The Council are keen to rearrange the event and after reviewing the club diary the only real alternative date is at the end of the season. Visitors, club matches and other scheduled events make it very difficult to rearrange. It is accepted that there are less tee times at this time of year but it was agreed it is still worth the effort.
The new date for playing the Silloth is now Saturday October 5th. First tee time is 07:30 ending at 14:20. Given that the tee sheet yesterday had no entries after 3pm most people should be able to get another tee time. All monies paid online will be refunded this week and the new event will go live for online booking next Saturday August 3rd at 9am.
Robert and his staff are appreciative of the members support given yesterday as they tried very hard to keep the course open
