If I may I would like to take this opportunity to provide an update as we move into a new period of club administration. I trust all members have received the annual booklet (if you haven’t please contact the office for a copy). The AGM was due to be held on Tuesday February 9th and for reasons that need no explanation this was not possible. As communicated to the members previously the present Council members in post will continue and roles will be allocated until ratification by the membership at the earliest opportunity. Council roles that required to be filled resulted in both co-option and a discussion with members that previously communicated an interest in joining Council.
Garry Stephen has decided to retire from Council and I would like to offer a thank you to him from all the club members for his seven years’ service on Council. My thanks also go to Past Captain David McGowan who has also left Council having served a similar length of service. Mark Walker and David Easton resigned from council during the year so again I would like to thank them for their efforts whilst on Council.
Following a Council meeting the make-up of the Council moving forward is as follows:
Captain: Iain Chalmers
Vice-Captain: Brian Tugman
Executive member: Lesley Purdie
The annual bills are being produced and should be with you in the next couple of weeks. If you are not paying by direct debit and wish to spread the payments over 11 months please contact the office. The annual fees are due to be paid by March 31st if you are not paying by direct debit method.
The fixtures are available to view on Google calendar or via the diary on the club website. The fixture booklets will shortly be sent to the printers and will be available to all members soon. We hope that all events can take place this year but if the restrictions are not fully lifted we will have to adapt as per government guidelines.
We would like to encourage once again that members download the Scottish Golf app from their website. This is in most cases to allow you to submit scores when playing away from Bathgate. For club competitions you will need to register with ‘HowDidiDo’. Scorecards will be issued but for verification purposes only. A fuller match and handicap update will follow soon in a separate communication.
As we currently still have restrictions in place again we would ask that members follow the current booking procedures in place. This is to try and ensure all members are given the opportunity to play.
Finally I’m sure all members would like to express their support to Uphall Golf Club. The club has offered them whatever assistance we can provide.
